I am having a hard time finding the compressive strength of a standard 8 inch cinder block

Cinder Block are usually hard to find. Most are now concrete block. Some areas have what they call half and half. The manufactor of the block you are buying can tell you the compressive strength.

What makes the wall strong is the rebar that you put in, both vertical and horzonal and the amount of grout you put in, either putting grout in the cells that contain rebar, or if you put grout in all the cells. THE MORE THE STRONGER. I recomment STRONGER.

Do not qoute me on this . I believe most specs. i read on prints for commercial jobs called for the blocks to test out at 2500 psi.
