Carotex NEW

Carotex is commonly used in the so. fla. pool construction industry. It is combined with;
1 bag perolite
1 bag portland wh/grey
1 bag carotex clay

in mixer add water then clay, then portland, mix thoroughly as it will seem much wetter than usual
11/2 buckets water approx.(just below paddle shaft 2")? Sorry, trying to remember exactly so remember; too much water kills the deal!
slowly add perolight, spray-clean mixer edges and paddle as you go. narrow window of water amount from not enough to too much so just take it easy and give it time to absorb water before adding more... shovel should stand almost erect in it
this mixture is used when larger build-outs are necessary. Its lightweight properties replace the use of normal, heavier sand aggregate plasters. sand/cement plasters would require several layers and three times the wait. one application of clay/cement/perolight mixture can be as thick as 5-6" and trowels and finishes easily... I am in Indiana and am looking right now for anyone who supplies it...I love it and it is a tremendous time-saver! There are certain nuances to mixing it and using it but they are easily mastered...Good Luck!

As a masonry instructor at a Career and Tech Center, Carotex is used as a practice mortar. Similar to lime, mixed 4:1 with sand, this mixture has similar plastic properties to mortar. The carotex is very slow setting to allow a student to make adjustments and can be reused after it sets by adding more water.
