Joints Showing Through
by: Masonryworktools.com

The reason the joints show through the plaster is because of the density of the two materials, so if you put another coat of plaster over it, it will greatly reduce it's visibility if not eliminate it. Typically if we are doing a wall that is going to be stuccoed or plastered we will cut the mortar off flat against the block. In other words don't tool the joints, tooling the joints will make the show through worse, but in the case where it is an existing wall, another layer of plaster will most likely be your best bet. If it still shows through, maybe consider a texture of some sort. Hope this helps, and thanks for visiting Masonryworktools.com
