We have discoloration on the inside brick, where the fireplace opening is. What can we clean that brick with?

Hello Housewife. What caused the discoloration? Is it smoke form the fireplace? Try a mild household cleaner with a stiff brush. If that does not get it, see what home depot recommends, if that does not do it, go to a brick supply company and get some sureklene. If that don't do it get some muratic acid. Follow the instructions on mixing and applying it. If it is smoke from the fireplace, you should go to brickcertification.com to learn how to fix it.
