How do I build a concrete cap for my fireplace. I'm replacing 9 courses of brick at top of chimney, their is about 10" of space between the flu and the inside of the outside brick chimney, please advise.

Replace Cap on Chimney NEW
by: Charlie Cummins

Hello Darrell I would use premixed concrete if the cap is over 3" thick or premixed type S mortar for the cap if it less than 3" thick. You want to be sure the cap goes over to the face of the outside brick on the chimney.
To learn more, and save money I believe you would benefit by going to brickcertification.com, and read all the links.

Thank you, and good luck
